RELAY: The Moveable Garden - October 2017
As part of the 2017 Art in Odd Places Festival in New York City, I created, in collaboration with choreographer Jeremy Nelson RELAY: The Moveable Garden, It continues my interest in modes of presentation and questions on migration. Following specific movement scores, a performance and outdoor movable installation were performed in real time. 20 invited performers from the New York dance scene wore mirrored costumes, carried various sources of light and several plants -on each of which was a sign explaining its country of origin.The intention was to trigger both individual and collective awareness; and to be a provocative action to stimulate reflection about origins and extinctions. The performance occurred over 3 hours on October 14th, and included a movable garden which was carried along 14th Street from Avenue C on the east side to 9th Avenue on the west side of New York City.

1. Performer X wheel the Movable Garden. Rest of performers surround garden as they walk along 14th street, carrying different sources of light, including some previously preset as part of the costumes.
2. Performer X give instruction 1: "RELAY UP RIGHT" - performers react by executing short improvised movements that end up standing. The group froze and hold a image for a short period. Continue to walk.
3. Performer X give instruction 2: "RELAY WAIST" - performers react by executing short improvised movements that end between standing and lying down. The group froze and hold a image for a short period. Continue to walk.
4. Performer X give instruction 3: "RELAY GROUND" - performers react by executing short improvised movements that end lying down. The group froze and hold a image for a short period.
5. Performer X give instruction 4: "RELAY"
6. Performer Y take the responsibility of wheeling garden.
